As part of the ABM’s long term strategy to grow and expand our mission, we’ve taken the exciting step of recruiting a CEO to support the next stages of our development as a charity.
We’re thrilled to introduce Roslyn Scholarios.
Roslyn has built a successful professional career working in the charity sector, with a lifelong commitment to volunteering.
What makes her unique, and a perfect fit for us is her lived experience: the arrival of a baby led to discovering a passion for breastfeeding.
Like so many of us Roslyn caught the bug: trained with the ABM as a peer supporter, and found a new career direction in the breastfeeding world. We are so excited that her next steps will be with us.
Please join us in welcoming Roslyn to her new role.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be stepping into the role of CEO for the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM).
I’ve worked in the charity sector for over 15 years, mostly in senior management roles focused on service delivery, strategic planning and community development. Alongside that professional experience, my connection to breastfeeding support is deeply personal, and it’s that blend of head and heart that I hope to bring to this role.
After the birth of my first baby in 2019, I faced a number of challenges establishing breastfeeding. It was peer support that got me through those early weeks, and it left a lasting impression on me. When my second baby was born in 2021, I connected with my local ABM support group and once again found the care and encouragement I needed. That led me to train as an ABM peer supporter, and to realign my career path to follow my passion for supporting breastfeeding families.
Most recently, I’ve been leading breastfeeding service provision as Scottish Breastfeeding Programme Manager for the National Childbirth Trust (NCT), coordinating peer support services across Glasgow and Lothian and working closely with NHS partners. I also trained as an NCT peer supporter during this time, continuing to grow my understanding of how best to support parents in ways that are inclusive, compassionate and impactful.
Now, I’m delighted to bring both my personal and professional experience to bear in leading ABM into its next chapter. It’s a real privilege to help shape the future of an organisation that has meant so much to me, and to continue championing the power of peer support for families across the UK.”
