The ABM can offer a variety of support options, depending on who you are and the information you need.
Telephone Counselling
ABM helpline: 0300 330 5453 — Open every day 9.30 am – 10.30 pm.
National Breastfeeding Helpline: 0300 100 0212 — Open every day 9.30 am – 9.30 pm. Visit this page for more information about the NBH.
With both helplines the calls are answered by a volunteer Breastfeeding Counsellor in their own home.
Calls to these numbers cost the same as a landline call to a 01 or a 02 number (about 5p per minute from BT lines plus 3p call set up charge from BT residential lines) and the price is the same for calls from mobiles. 0300 numbers are included in any discount schemes or inclusive call minutes that you may already have with landline or mobile phone operators. Please be aware that if you ring from a mobile phone it is unlikely that you will speak to someone in your local area, as the system is unable to identify local areas from mobile telephones. This also happens if you withhold your number when you call.
Email Counselling
We are able to answer your non-urgent breastfeeding questions via email. However, some situations are easier to discuss on the phone as then we can ask about all the relevant details.
If you do want to email us please include as much information as possible in your initial email including your baby’s age and how they are currently fed so we can more accurately reply to your questions or concerns. We aim to reply within five working days.
You can email us from this website (choose counselling from the list of categories) or if you prefer you can email us at counselling@abm.me.uk
