Pam´s Prize 2012
The Association of Breastfeeding Mothers is calling all new parents!
Volunteer breastfeeding counsellors make a quiet unsung difference to families across the UK every day.
For once, let´s make a little bit of noise!
Did a breastfeeding counsellor make a difference to you and your baby´s life?
Pam´s Prize is a new annual award to remember our beloved leader, Pam Lacey, who died in November 2010. We want to celebrate the life of an inspirational breastfeeding advocate and recognise those who share her values and someone who goes that extra mile as she did.
We are looking for a breastfeeding counsellor from any organisation working in a voluntary capacity who has touched lives. Nominees can be a breastfeeding counsellor from the ABM or NCT, a breastfeeding supporter from the Breastfeeding Network or a La Leche League Leader. Breastfeeding counsellor, BfN Breastfeeding supporter and La Leche League Leader are all equivalent qualifications.
Just write up to 250 words putting forward your nomination and email it to admin [at] abm [dot] me [dot] uk or send it to The Association of Breastfeeding Mothers, PO Box 207, Bridgwater, TA6 7YT before March 1st 2012.
The winner will receive a framed certificate, book voucher and free ABM conference attendance (with travel and accommodation) where the prize will be awarded.
Volunteer breastfeeding counsellors staff national breastfeeding helplines, run support groups accross the country, visit new and vulnerable families at home or in hospitals and offer training and support to health professionals. Please help us give them some well-deserved recognition!
We would like you to publicise Pam´s Prize in your local area. Please print and display the flyer below wherever you think they may be seen by new parents. Alternatively you could email a copy of the flyer to people you think may help spread the word. Mumsnet is also asking its members to nominate counsellors for the prize.
Please email website [at] abm [dot] me [dot] uk if you have a website visited by new parents or are a member of a parents´ forum and feel you could help us publicise Pam´s Prize there.
