Breastfeeding Your Baby with Down Syndrome
Down Syndrome is the most common genetical abnormality in human babies. Mothers of babies with Down Syndrome may experience mixed emotions and may wonder what lies ahead for them and their baby. They may wonder whether it will be possible to breastfeed their baby.
This booklet contains up-to-date information and mothers' comments and stories, photos and suggestions. It also includes information about prematurity, positioning, attachment, use of lactation aids, sleepiness, slow weight gain and failure to thrive, hospitalisation and expressing. There are also sections on adjusting to the diagnosis, dealing with advice from other people, introducing family foods and messages from parents who have children with Down Syndrome.
