Pam’s Prize

Did a breastfeeding counsellor make a difference to you and your baby’s life?

Pam’s Prize is an annual award to remember our beloved leader, Pam Lacey, who died in November 2010. We want to celebrate the life of an inspirational breastfeeding advocate and recognise those who share her values and someone who goes that extra mile as she did.

The prize is awarded to a breastfeeding counsellor from any organisation working in a voluntary capacity who has touched lives. Nominees can be a breastfeeding counsellor from the ABM or NCT, a breastfeeding supporter from the Breastfeeding Network (BfN) or a La Leche League Leader. Breastfeeding counsellor, BfN Breastfeeding supporter and La Leche League Leader are all equivalent qualifications.

Volunteer breastfeeding counsellors staff national breastfeeding helplines, run support groups across the country, visit new and vulnerable families at home or in hospitals and offer training and support to health professionals.

Nominations were closed on the 1st of March and we have now have a winner…Carolyn Markham from Northamptonshire.

Nominations are open between the 1st of January and the 1st of March. Please either email us at admin@abm.me.uk or you can write to us at ABM, PO Box 207, Bridgwater, TA6 7YT. We need to know the full name of the person you are nominating, the organisation they come from and a description of how they have helped you personally. We will be contacting nominees later in the Spring to let them know they have been nominated and their work is appreciated – but we won’t mention you by name. We really would love to hear from you. We would also appreciate it if you could tell other new mothers about the prize so as many volunteers as possible receive the recognition they deserve.

The winner will receive £100 prize and a VIP place at the ABM conference 2014 (with travel and accommodation) where the prize will be awarded.
